PHAROAH ANT (Monomorium pharaonis)

- Monomorphic, worker size is very small
- 1/16 inch long
- Uneven thorax
- 12 segments of antenna
- 3- segmented club antenna
- No spines on thorax
- Reddish, yellowish, or light brown
- Eyes well developed
Distribution
- Omnivorous-- both sweet foods and meats or greases. Food is eaten where found, not carried back to nest.
- Nests only indoors in northeastern states in walls of buildings and foundations, often in the most inaccessible places
- Worldwide pest, common in towns and cities and in enormous numbers
