  • Almost colorless to gray to light brown
  • Has small scale-like, non functional wings
  • Booklice have chewing mouth parts.

Distribution/Habits

  • Found throughout the world
  • Most species are outdoor inhabitants found under bark, grass, damp wood, leaves, etc. They have been found in houses, warehouses, libraries, insect collections and in stored foods.
  • Booklice prefer damp, warm, undisturbed places.
  • Numbers escalate in structures during spring and summer.
  • Feed primarily on mold which develops on glue of wallpaper, and book bindings
